I haven’t been as diligent with my bible reading as I want. I have been praying for a better “attitude” with my kids. To encourage them instead of yelling at them. I want my kids to say that I am “for” them (as my friend overheard one of her kids say about her). I want to be that mom.
So I open my bible today and read Matthew 15:11 “what goes into someone's mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that defiles them. “ That hurts. Lord forgive me for what I say and help me to be encouraging.
I am reminded of 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 ”Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” That needs to be on my refrigerator, in my car, on my mirror, in front of my eyes CONSTANTLY. Maybe that would be a good use of those google glasses?
Let’s be those verses today. Let’s be patient and kind. Not boastful or self-seeking. Not easily angered. Rejoicing in the truth. Protecting, trusting, hoping and perservering. Ready? Go!
