providing closed-toe shoes for children in Africa
SOLE HOPE 4 KIDS: Shoe-making Party
Thank You to Everyone Who Came Out to Our Shoe-Making Party!
We made an incredible 20 shoes to send to Africa
through Sole's Hope!
The children who Sole Hope aims to help do not have closed-toe shoes, and are often plagued by horrible jiggers that are extremely painful to remove. Julie A. Martens, the founder of Sole Hope, created an easy pattern and coupled it with a fantastic idea: use old jeans, cut out the material for the shoes, and ship them to a Africa where they are put together and finished by men and women who are paid a fair wage for their work. The result? Sturdy, closed-toe shoes for the children, and no more jiggers in their feet!
